The Reverse Mortgage Education Project
is a Network of counselors who are located in your state, or who
have experience counseling homeowners in your state. The RMEP
is administered by the AARP Foundation and funded by the
U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Availability Table tells you when each counselor currently
has openings for counseling appointments. Due to the popularity
of the reverse mortgages the counselors are sometimes booked up
for weeks at a time. Please check the box to the right of a counselor's
phone number, if it says "YES" for "1-2 weeks,"
this means that you could get a counseling appointment with the
counselor sometime within the next two weeks. Network counselors
make every effort to keep their counseling availability information
in this table up-to-date.
Emergencies! Only if you are facing a foreclosure
or other similar emergency and need counseling immediately, you
may call the RMEP at this "emergencies only" number:
202-434-6051 for direct assistance in getting a counseling appointment
as soon as possible.
